Hi Everyone!

From Rome, I rented a car - a Fiat 500 with a manual shift. Just my size, lol. Seriously though, I fit nicely into the driver's seat, and it had more than enough room for me and my backpacks.

The first leg of the car journey was from Rome to a little medieval town called Siena in the heart of the Tuscany region of Italy. I had not even heard of this town until I was looking at places to stay along the road, and many search results seemed to all say that Siena was simply a must-visit.

Well, I'm glad I did - it was such a cool little place. Got some good drone shots to show for it also.

It was really neat to see this old fortress-style town now transformed into a tourist's delight.

I stayed in a cute little boutique hotel right in the middle of town where the roads were too tight for cars... mostly. I tried to get some video of the hotel.

Highlights perhaps not fully captured in the video:

  • The whole town was having a BBQ party that very night I was there.

  • The church (and the stairs up to it) were more impressive than the video shows them to be.

  • It was super tricky to find a nice discreet drone take-off spot, but I eventually got pretty lucky.

  • The sunset was spectacular. Definitely a place where the video just doesn't do it justice - you have to go there to take it all in.

Hope you all are doing OK!

Eric
