Hi Everyone,
I had a little down time and some legal paperwork stuff to do so I was laying low for a few days. My totally awesome and amazing friend Cristian let me stay in his apartment in Bucharest - beyond being such a large and helpful gesture, it was so needed and used. I had the quiet time needed to focus on the things I was working on and to just relax and unwind. Truly cannot say thank you enough Cristian for your generosity and hospitality. I even included a special thank you in the video just for you :) - so keep an eye out for it.
I didn't JUST relax the whole time though, I went out and explored the city, the buildings, and parks. Did a whole lot more walking. I even managed to find a place that was not a NO DRONES ALLOWED space.
Bucharest has a certain charm to it. Little pockets of beautiful places here and there. Lots and lots of really big and dominating looking buildings. I got the feeling that this place was very powerful and proud. The people were very very friendly and helpful. The subway system was nice and efficient.
I have to say, I had a good time in Bucharest. Food was also pretty good.
Things perhaps not fully captured in the video:
It felt like there were about 4 cars for every person in the city. Cars cars everywhere. Double.... even triple parked on the sides of the street. On the sidewalks - essentially nowhere to walk except in the road itself. Some cars were covered top to bottom in spider webs - it would seem that person found a great spot and now just never leaves it. All the streets are busy at the best of times and just one big traffic jam at the worst.
I wish North American had a train network like Europe. It's been so easy to get anywhere I wish to go. That said, I am now hopping onto a flight for this net leg of my journey to Istanbul!
There were police everywhere. Stationed in little kiosks, or out walking the streets. It felt very safe.
I really enjoyed the walks through the beautiful and shaded parks. Smells of baking and pastries along the way. Mmm delicious.
Ok, that's it for me now for a few days. I'm super excited about heading to Istanbul.
Talk to you later everyone!
Eric

I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed your time in Bucharest, Eric! It was truly my pleasure to host you and provide a little space for you to focus and unwind. Bucharest does have its unique charm. However, without a good subway system and public transportation service, commuting in a city of 2 Million people would be a nightmare. Safe travels on your journey to Istanbul! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures there!
Take care,
-Cristian
