Hi Everyone,
I just go into Vienna after a wonderful 3 days in Prague. Laszlo, you were absolutely right, Prague is such a beautiful city. The medieval architecture is extremely captivating.
Prague is an ancient city built to be protectable and is situated on a giant assed series of hills that kicked my butt several times having to climb. Wanna see the beautiful Pražský hrad (Prague Castle)? It's to over there and up about a bajillion stairs. How about the Petrin Tower, just climb that way - you know you're nearing the top if/when your heart explodes. Cool Vyšehrad Church? Good thing there is a Cemetery at the very very top lol. I thanked myself quite a few times on this leg of the trip for kicking my ass over the last year to get out and walk and to lose about 75lbs. It has helped tremendously.
I stayed at a hostel called the "Road House" but it was anything like the Swayze movie - instead it was very calm and lovely. There I met a great group of people and this hostel really specialized in entertaining their guests. They cooked us dinner every night and then took those who were interested to evening activities. Last night was bowling (10 pin of course) followed by a dance club - both were so much fun! I won the first bowling game, and then I don't really fully remember the second one :).
Made some good acquaintances and I may have secured some free nights stays when I eventually make my way through Geneva and Paris! Food was mostly fancy Italian restaurants with fancy Italians running them.
Highlights maybe not fully captured in the video:
Eveyone in Prague is beautiful. The girls and the boys. Fashionable but also very striking in face and figure. I would say that about 13 out of every 20 women I walked past would be universally accepted as georgous in any part of the world and objectively so by anyone. Ok fine maybe I am exaggerating - there were likely more uggos than I'm letting on ;). All the friggin' hills you have to climb to get around - that's probably why everyone is so fit.
I'm really enjoying the hostels and striking up conversations with new people who are also on an adventure of their own. As my new hostel host here in Vienna just put it to me a few minutes ago, "There is something magical about solo travelling through Europe - opportunities present themselves and you get taken to places you had never thought you would go. Places in the world, but places in your mind and soul as well".
What the heck was with the giant babies crawling all over here and there in the city and also all over the TV Tower you may ask just like I did?!? This is what my mom found out about them: "The grotesque infants are climbing a structure that jars the beauty of Prague’s skyline, a symbol of the Communist era, unable to reach adulthood, their growth stifled by this landmark of totalitarian rule. The outrageous babies also portray a bloated, surreal childhood."
I'm getting hungry now - going to go out exploring to find my dinner.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Eric

Like the looks of Prague...maybe our next holiday.
